JASON'S STORY

"NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS"

From childhood, Jason Barnes felt the rhythm in his bones—the primal pull of drumsticks against skins. But life’s capricious hand dealt him a harsh blow at 21—an electrical accident that claimed his arm. Yet, Jason’s love for music remained unshaken.

A decade later, he stands at the crossroads of innovation. His passion birthed something extraordinary: an avant-garde prosthetic limb—the stuff of science fiction. Jason’s creation defies limits, merging artistry and engineering. With it, he drums anew, a symphony of resilience.

But Jason’s vision extends beyond himself. He champions technology forged in collaboration with the disability community. Their insights, their dreams—they shape tools that empower millions. In this shared journey, barriers crumble, and possibilities flourish.

In this harmonious dance of creativity, Jason Barnes reminds us that innovation knows no bounds.

JOSH

JOSH'S STORY

"OVERCOMER"

Josh, a 33 year old drummer from Torrance, California has been playing drums for most of his teenage and young 20’s life. Three years ago, Josh had an horrific car accident, and the end result was having his left hand amputated. After that he searched for ways to continue drumming, however the only commercial drumming prosthetic attachments on the market was not very good.

He kept researching, and fortunately, came across Jason Barnes of Cybernetic Sound. When I saw what Jason had been doing for the last 10 years, building prosthetic drum devices, I reached out to him and was very fortunate to have Jason build me my first prosthetic drum arm and got me playing again. It was an amazing feeling.

He feels it’s really important that prosthetic companies fill this void. There’s a huge hole in the market right now for people with limb differences or people with any disability, that they can be making music with the rest of us.
