Athan Billias has been a pioneer in music technology, with a career spanning roles at Yamaha Corporation of America and Steinberg. His work has focused on integrating technology with music creation, including the development of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) software and hardware.

Athan’s contributions have shaped the way musicians compose, record, and perform music. As president of The MIDI Association, his vision for technology-driven music education and production aligns with Cybernetic Sound Inc.’s goals to make music more accessible for everyone.

Billy Brimblecom

BILLY BRIMBLECOM

Billy Brimblecom, Jr. is not only the Executive Director of Steps of Faith Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing prosthetics for those in need, but also a talented musician and drummer. He has played with Blackpool Lights, alongside Jim Suptic, and has performed with other bands and artists, bringing a wealth of experience from both the music and philanthropic sectors. His personal journey through losing a leg to cancer and returning to music with the help of a prosthetic has inspired many. Billy’s work exemplifies the power of resilience and the impact of adaptive technology in the music world..

Sam Pura

Sam Pura is a renowned music producer and sound engineer, best known as the founder of The Panda Studios in Fremont, California. Sam’s innovative production techniques and keen ability to capture the essence of a band’s sound have made him a sought-after figure in the punk, rock, and indie scenes. He has worked with notable bands such as The Story So Far, State Champs, and many, many more.

His expertise in crafting distinct audio experiences is instrumental in advising Cybernetic Sound Inc. on creating accessible and state-of-the-art recording environments for musicians with disabilities.

ANDREW TKACZYK

Andrew Tkaczyk, drummer for the metalcore band The Ghost Inside, has shown remarkable resilience and creativity following a bus accident that resulted in the loss of his right leg. Despite this life-changing event, Andrew designed “The Hammer,” a pedal that allows him to continue playing drums.

His dedication to overcoming physical challenges and continuing to perform at a high level is not only inspirational but also aligns perfectly with Cybernetic Sound Inc.’s mission to support musicians with disabilities. Andrew’s experience brings a personal and practical perspective to the advisory panel.

JIM SUPTIC

Jim Suptic is a key figure in rock music, most famously known as the guitarist and founding member of pioneer band The Get Up Kids. Formed in the mid-90s, The Get Up Kids rose to prominence with albums like “Something to Write Home About.”

Beyond his work with The Get Up Kids, Jim has been involved in projects like Blackpool Lights and has collaborated with various artists across genres. Jim also works alongside Billy Brimblecom at the Steps of Faith Foundation, helping amputees with access to prosthetics. His deep connections within the music industry and firsthand experience as a touring musician provide invaluable insights into the support systems and opportunities that can benefit Cybernetic Sound Inc.’s community.

Gil Weinberg

 

Gil Weinberg is a professor and the founding director of the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology, where he’s led groundbreaking research in robotic musicianship. Weinberg has developed robots that can listen to and improvise music alongside human musicians, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in music creation.

His notable projects include a robotic percussionist that can play alongside jazz musicians and a prosthetic arm for drummers that has been used by Cybernetic Sound Inc. co-founder Jason Barnes. Gil’s innovative approach to combining music with cutting-edge technology offers a wealth of knowledge for developing adaptive instruments.

Music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Hardy (known professionally as Audioscribe) was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy when he was 10 years old.

He’d always loved music and his parents put every single instrument they could afford in front of him. Eventually, he latched onto the guitar and joined a high school band where he first started writing music. At the same time, his disability was slowly progressing. Eventually, he lost the ability to walk completely. As his ability to walk worsened, he fully transitioned from guitarist to music producer.

Fast-forward a few years and he he became an actively touring artist. Yet show after show, Dylan faced the grim reality that the music industry wasn’t prepared to accommodate performers with disabilities like his. Now, after working his way to the forefront of dance music, he’s finally in a position to start advocating for real change.

Jack Thomas

A seasoned musician, audio engineer, and music producer, Jack Thomas boasts a remarkable career spanning over a decade. His musical journey has been multifaceted: from performing in various bands to producing albums for local artists and embarking on countless music recording projects.

However, Jack’s path took an unexpected turn on September 4th, 2015, when tragedy struck. A conveyor belt accident at the recycling plant resulted in the loss of his right arm at the elbow. Despite spending just 6 days in the hospital, Jack’s resilience led him to the GF Strong Physical Rehabilitation Centre, where he relearned essential life skills and regained his strength. The initial months were grueling, mentally and physically, as he adapted to basic tasks.

Yet, Jack’s passion for music remained unwavering. With determination, he returned to school and resumed doing what he loved most: playing music. His inspiring journey caught the attention of millions through his drumming videos and motivational content, amassing an online following of over 100,000 individuals. Jack leverages this platform to spread positivity, motivation, and inspiration, touching lives across the digital landscape. 

Joey Koblasz - Hanger Clinic

Joey Koblasz

Arthur “Joey” Koblasz earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003, followed by a MS degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics also from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005.  He completed two NCOPE approved clinical residencies in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 2007 and achieved board-certification shortly after. 

He has worked for the past 18 years with Hanger Clinic and currently holds the title of Area Clinic Manager, overseeing the operations of 12 clinics in Georgia and Tennessee.  Joey is passionate about using technology to improve the quality of lives for his patients, with special interest in upper limb prosthetics.  He is a husband and father of 4 children with hobbies that include playing drums and riding mountain bikes.
